This new body of work by NY based artist Maryam Hoseini draws on the tragedy of the human condition, developing collective scenes where characters are caught in absurd actions and unsettled situations. Using figuration to focus on moments of contested interaction, the paintings arrive at a poetic abstraction infused with alienation, fear, vulnerability and humor. Each work is composed of wood panels balanced upon one another or interlocked together, anchored into the wall behind.
